Concert

 

The Seatonville Congregational Church, Independent will host an a-capella gospel concert featuring the acclaimed quartet “Blend” at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 29.This special evening of great gospel music will include many classic hymns as well as some popular songs from the 1950s and 1960s to bring you back on memory lane.

Princess Tea Party

St. Louis CCW will sponsoring a Princess Tea Party from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 29, in Harkrader Hall at St. Louis Church in Princeton. Girls ages 2 to 10 will be admitted free. Adult tickets are $10 each. Little girls are encouraged to wear Disney princess dresses or tutus. Tea party food will be served.

Sullivan's Cook out Fundraiser

The Princeton High School Music Boosters will hold a cookout from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 29, in the Sullivan’s parking lot. They will sell ribeye sandwiches, butterfly pork chop sandwiches, brats and hot dogs. Chips and drinks will also be available.

Dance recital

Just for Kix - Princeton will present its “Get On Your Feet” spring dance recital on Saturday, April 29. The show kicks off at 5:30 p.m. in Prouty Gymnasium at Princeton High School. Tickets available at the door for $7 for adults, $4 for students and 5 and under are free.

Relay for Life

 Families and their furry friends will join together to honor and celebrate the lifelong contributions of canine caregivers to cancer patients at the American Cancer Society Bark for Life event from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 29, at Zearing Park in Princeton. By supporting the event, you can help the American Cancer Society save lives and help free the world from the pain and suffering of cancer.  The celebration will include a family friendly dog walk around beautiful Zearing Park, a pet blessing, K9 unit demonstrations by Deputy Chica and her handler Bureau County Deputy Chad Hall, a doggy bank raffle, pet luminaria sales for the Relay event, and much more.

Believe.....in the Roaring Twenties ~ A fundraiser to support the "Believe Foundation" a local foundation that provides local cancer patients with wigs and other medical needs free of charge. Concert

 

The fifth annual Princeton Jazz Festival concert — “Swing Sets to Swing Sets” — will take place at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, April 29, at the Bureau County Fairgrounds in Princeton. The evening will include performances by the Logan Junior High School Jazz Band, the Princeton High School Jazz Band and the Princeton Community Jazz Band. Proceeds from the festival concert will support the music programs at LJHS and PHS. Admission to the concert is $5 ($3 for students and seniors), and doors open at the Allen Building at 6 p.m. Desserts will be available for purchase at the venue.

Walk the line with June and Johnny Cash as Festival 56 presents June’s Got the Cash at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 29. This musical show features Jenna Middleton as songbird June Carter Cash and Jonathan Lyons as the Man in Black. The tribute showcases Johnny Cash’s collection of hits over five decades, including “Jackson,” “A Boy Named Sue,” “Folsom Prison Blues,” “Ring of Fire,” “Walk the Line” and many more.   Tickets to this musical tribute are $18 in advance and $20 at the door. Bell Concert

 The First United Methodist Church in Princeton will host a bell choir concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 30, in the church’s sanctuary. The program will feature handbell groups from St. Matthews Lutheran Church and First United Methodist Church, both of Princeton. Music will include American folk songs, Christian hymns and classical pieces. The two groups will use a variety of ringing techniques including handchimes, mallets and “singing” bells. The last technique produces a very unique, almost eerie tone. A special treat will be the kid’s bells. Kid’s bells are for children in grades 2 through 5. The music is written in a special way so children of those ages can play it easily. The final number will be a mass ring with both choirs. The piece will be the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel’s Messiah.

Rips Fundraiser

 Project Success/Hall Township Food Pantry will host a themed Rip’s Night on Monday, May 1. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and chicken will be served until 7:30 p.m. The menu will be chicken or chicken strips, plus fries. If you live in Ladd, delivery is available.  Want a free dessert? A grocery basket will be in the foyer and anyone who donates food items will receive dessert free. A bake sale will be in the foyer as well. Church Program

 Seatonville Congregational Church Independent of Seatonville invites the public to attend a Family Banquet that will be a potluck meal with meat, bread and beverages provided at the church, 110 W U.S. Highway 6, Seatonville, IL 61359.  Serving will begin at 5:30 PM.  There is no charge for the meal except for the dishes to pass that we ask attendees to bring.  Following the meal, there will be a program at which, Sarah Dean of Cup of Cold Water Ministries will bring her story.  She is a nurse who lost her hand in an exciting auto accident on the mission field in Bolivia.  A love offering will be taken for Sarah's ministries.

Miniature Gardening. This is a hands-on workshop for all ages in which you will learn how to create and care for your very own miniature garden. Gateway 5K Superhero Showdown Sat. June 24  

Come out and be a hero at the Gateway 5k Superhero Showdown! This is a fun (but still timed) 5K run/walk.  Along the course will be  Volunteer Villains who will attempt to chase you down with their squirt phasers.  Not into running?  Be a Villain Volunteer.  Our villains will be stationed along the course with their squirt phasers.  Hero or villain, come out, put on your cape or get your phasers ready, and support individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.   

The Gateway 5K is an awareness run/walk for intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
