Farmer's Market

The Spring Valley farmer's markets will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday on the corner of Spalding and Cleveland streets (former Immaculate Conception Church parking lot). The markets, which will feature locally grown and homemade food and products, will be held weather permitting through September.

DePue Pro National Boat Races

Go to beautiful Lake DePue and watch the exciting Pro National Championship Boat Races - US Title Series. Racing Fri & Sat noon to 5 p.m. and Sunday 12:30 to 5. In addition there will be live music nightly, beer gardens, teen dance, 5K races, food stands, and best of all it's still only $3 admission.

Shakespeare in the Park

Festival 56 will present Shakespeare’s “The Comedy of Errors” throughout the month of July in Soldiers and Sailors Park in Princeton. Performances begin at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays and Sundays. Audiences are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and enjoy this free performance of Shakespeare’s rollicking comedy. For further information, call the Festival 56 box office at 815-879-5656.

Farmer's Market

The Princeton Farmer’s Market runs from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until everything sells out, so make sure you go early to get the best selections. Market-goers can expect to see anywhere from seven to 10 vendors every Saturday, depending on what’s ripe for the picking.  Located on the lawn next to the Apollo Theater, Main Street, Princeton.

5K

DePue Celebration 5K: The 7th annual DePue Celebration 5K will be Saturday, July 29 during the Lake DePue PRO National Championship Boat Races weekend. Check-in will be from 7 to 7:45 a.m. with race time at 8 a.m., starting and ending at the DePue North Fire Station. Trophies will be awarded to the overall male and female finishers and top DePue winners. Awards will also be given to the top three finishers in each of the 14 age groups. 

Preregistration before July 21 is $20 and $25 after. Checks made payable to the DePue Men’s Club may be sent to Michael Rodriquez, Box 506, DePue, Ill. 61322. For more information, call 815-878-9024 or email rodrig.87@comcast.net.

Ohio Celebration days

Bags Tournament: The Ohio 5 year Celebration bag tournament will take place once again July 29. Entry fee is $30/team and you bring your own partner. Every team will be guaranteed to play at least five games. The prizes will be 1st/$250, 2nd/$150 and 3rd/$100. The amounts and number of spots receiving prizes may increase depending on the number of teams. There will be brand new top notch boards and bags. Community Band Concert

Princeton Community Band Concerts are in Soldiers and Sailors Park in Princeton. They are all on Sunday evenings at 6 p.m. This is the season’s last concert  The concerts are free. Lawn chairs are suggested. Refreshments will be available. New this year, in case of rain the concerts will be held in Pannebaker Gymnasium at Logan Jr. High School, at 6 p.m.

Classic Rides

 The Tiskilwa Historical society will once again host “Classic Rides” on the museum’s west lawn on Saturday, Aug. 5, between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. With the cooperation of local vehicle enthusiasts, all kinds of classic rides will be on display for the public’s amusement and amazement on Saturday during Pow Wow Days. Tiskilwa Historical Society is inviting everyone who is proud of their “wheels” to show ‘em off. All kinds of Classic Rides are welcomed to roll onto the lawn: cars, tractors, motorcycles, bicycles, buggies, maybe even a tricked-out golf cart or riding mower.

Tiskilwa Historical Society

Tiskilwa Historical Society members have an exciting new program — a fundraiser called “Voices from Mount Bloom.” Tickets are available for purchase at the museum as well as the Tiskilwa Public Library. 

For the program presented Saturday, Aug. 5, audience members will have their choice of time – 1, 2 or 3 p.m. — for presentations at the gazebo in Mount Bloom Cemetery. For those who’d like to hitch a ride, BPART buses will be available the Museum on Main.  Proceeds from the tickets, which will be directed to the T-H-S’s Building Fund, are priced at donations of $10 for adults, $5 for teens, with children admitted free when accompanied by a ticketed adult or teen.
