Tiskilwa Historical Society

The community is invited to a Sunday afternoon of music and picnicking at Tiskilwa’s Museum on Main.  At 4:00, a fascinating program in beekeeping, presented by Tiskilwa resident John Sims, will begin the celebration of the twelfth anniversary of the Tiskilwa Historical Society.  A picnic on the west lawn will follow the program.  Check the website for specific details:  www.tiskilwahistoricalsociety.org.

The Z Tour Bike Ride, on July 21st, 2018, is in its 8th year and offers some of the best routes for riders of all ability levels. We offer five options: 10, 30, 50, 65, and 100 miles. The event has established a partnership with the Princeton Area Chamber of Commerce who will once again host "Down on Main Street" on Friday, July 20 featuring food and live music. Riders will be able to check-in early at the event.

Tiskilwa Pow Wow Days

AUGUST 2-5:  TISKILWA POW WOW DAYS includes a 5K race, a children’s “Li’l Spurs Rodeo” and Queen Pageant, music and dancing, a parade, beer garden, food stands, church-sponsored lunches, alumni banquet, and many other events. Tiskilwa Historical Society

The Tiskilwa Public Library will co-sponsor this event with the Tiskilwa Historical Society as Illinois author Tom Emery presents “The History of Illinois” in a one-hour program. Tom will share insights to the events and stories that have defined our state, including the pre-statehood era, railroads, agriculture, inventions, Lincoln and the Civil War, gender and racial advancements, the Haymarket Affair, the Chicago Fire and World’s Fair, and the wars of the 20th century. The program begins at 7:00 p.m. at Tiskilwa’s Museum on Main and will be followed by refreshments and social time in the museum galleries.
